BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES These positions are located in the Liberty Recreation Centers within the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The incumbent performs one or a combination of the following: issues equipment and tracks usage in the Liberty Center. Provides information to Single Sailor Service Members for on base activities, special events, trips and tours. Responsible for issuing and collecting equipment (i.e. computers, games, books, billiard balls, musical instruments, etc.) to authorized patrons. Assists with the preparation of special events, programs and activities. Required to process resale transactions and to collect fees and charges for a variety of activities, events and trips. Completes daily activity reports (DAR) and drops money ensuring that proper cash handling procedures are followed. May escort patrons on trips and tours sponsored by the Liberty Recreation Centers. Assists the Liberty Program Manager in planning, implementing and promoting the base-wide Single Sailor Program. Serves as duty manager to ensure the facility is functioning in a smooth, safe and efficient manner. Assists in inventory, ordering and patron count. Ensures the facility is open and closed at the posted time and in a state of cleanliness both inside and out. Reviews the schedule of events and ensures the facility is prepared prior to the scheduled start time. Upon closure of the facility, completes fire and safety checks, secures all doors, windows, storerooms, etc. Assists the Recreation Specialist in the administration of programs and services of the assigned recreation, internet, and/or single sailor facility or program. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

A minimum of two years work related experience is strongly preferred

High school graduate/equivalent preferred

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a California Class B endorsement within 90 days of employment

Must be able to obtain a CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment

Ability to handle cash and perform basic arithmetic

Ability to maintain records, reports and inventory
-
Ability to promote good customer relations and make independent judgment and sound decisions

Must have knowledge of computers, video game consoles, musical instruments and other equipment

Must be knowledgeable with computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Word, Internet, etc.)

Must possess strong leadership and communication skills to effectively exercise control over a large group of people, market the program and lead a small staff with minimal direction

This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty, which may include nights, weekends and holidays

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English

Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
