BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a catering waiter/waitress for banquets, conference, special events, and private parties, providing food and beverage service as required. Incumbent assist with the set up of facility and arranging tables, tableware and silverware. Places plate in front of guest, provides beverage and refills. Clears and returns dishes to food preparation area. Assists with the taking down of tables and chairs returning supplies to proper storage area. NA-03 provides food and beverage services as a waiter/waitress in a dining room or restaurant setting. Must be familiar with the menu for the day, offers suggestions if requested, record desired selections from guests and turn in the order for preparation to the kitchen. Must meet minimum age requirement. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence.

  • Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from.

  • Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu: the available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures.

  • Skill in proper table setting techniques.

  • Must have knowledge of and maintain a high standard of sanitation, courtesy, and proper service techniques required to serve meals and beverages

  • Familiar with various beverages and wines is desirable; ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol

  • Ability to make simple mathematical calculations to compute cash charges and make change

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English and follow written and verbal instructions

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
